The Codex app is a macOS desktop interface designed to manage multiple agents at once, run work in parallel, and collaborate with agents on long running tasks. Agents run in separate threads organized by projects so you can switch between tasks without losing context.

The app supports reviewing an agent’s changes inside the thread, commenting on diffs, and opening work in your editor for manual edits. It also includes built-in support for worktrees so multiple agents can work on the same repository without conflicts by operating on isolated copies of the code.

Codex can be extended with “skills,” which bundle instructions, resources, and scripts to help Codex connect to tools and run workflows more reliably. The Codex app also supports “Automations,” which run on a schedule you define and deliver results to a review queue.
